The Chicago Blackhawks selected Jimmy in the first
round (eighth
overall) of the 1987 Entry Draft. From 1988-92,
saw action in 33
games for the Blackhawks. In 1992-93, he established
career-highs with 20 games, 996 minutes, six wins,
and two
shutouts during his first full season in the NHL.
Jimmy also shared
the William Jennings Trophy with Ed Belfour after
allowing the
fewest combined goals against in the league. On
June 19, 1993,
he was traded to the San Jose Sharks in exchange
for future
considerations. In 1993-94, Jimmy posted a 4.30
goals-against
average in 15 games for the Sharks. On Feb. 5,
1995, he was
traded back to the Blackhawks in exchange for
a 1997 fourth
round draft pick. From 1994-97, Jimmy saw action
in five games
for Chicago. In 1997-98, he went 5-6-1 with a
2.12 goals-against
average in 17 games with the Coyotes. Phoenix
claimed him in the
1997 Waiver Draft.
Prior to playing professionally, Jimmy spent two
seasons with
Chicoutimi of the QMJHL. In 1986-87, he set career-bests
with 50
games, 2,569 minutes, 23 wins, two shutouts, and
a 4.48
goals-against average. Through 36 games in 1987-88,
he was
17-16-1 with a 4.50 goals-against average.
Jimmy and his wife make their off-season home in
his native
Sherbrooke, Quebec.
