   1997-98 Season
Second NHL season. Missed three games with flu.

98-99 Season
Sullivan matched his career-high by playing in 63 Maple Leaf games
for the second consecutive season. He also recorded a career-best 20 goal
and 40 points last season.

   The Finesse Game
One advantage to being as small as Sullivan is that you are closer to the puck than a lot of your rivals. Sullivan
complicates matters by using a short stick--short even by his standards--to keep the puck in his feet. He
draws penalties by protecting the puck so well; foes usually have to foul him to get the puck. By nature a
centre, Sullivan has terrific speed, hands, vision and anticipation. However, he will probably have to make his
way in the NHL as a left wing, even though that means sending him into the wars along the boards. Playing
wing, he doesn't have to be down low on defensive-zone coverage. Sullivan is quick and smart enough to get
himself out of pending jams, but he does not have elite skills and has to apply himself constantly. He is strictly
an offensive threat, almost a specialty player.

   The Physical Game
You can't survive in the NHL if you are small and soft. Sullivan won his ticket to the big leagues while in New
Jersey, and every time he was auditioned, he played with fire. If he gets bounced around he has to get back
up, and get his stick up. His effort has to be more consistent. He showed little in these areas last season. He
needs to tear a page out of Theo Fleury's book.

   The Intangibles
Sullivan lost some of his drive last season and did not come into training camp in great shape. If he applies
himself to his conditioning and decides he wants to stay in the NHL, he must play with determination and grit.

  Projection
Sullivan's stock dropped sharply last season and he will be on the bubble.
