The Toronto Maple Leafs selected Tomas in the ninth round
  (204th overall) of the 1996 Entry Draft.

  Tomas played with Poldi Kladno (Czech Republic) prior to his NHL
  career. In 1995-96, Tomas played 23 games with Poldi Kladno's
  junior team, scoring six goals and totaling 19 points. He then
  played with Poldi Kaldno, appearing in a total of 119 games,
  potting four goals and adding 25 assists. He also played with St.
  John's of the American Hockey League, appearing two games.

  Tomas played for the Czech Republic at the 1998 World Junior
  Championships.
