10 Years Old

At 10 years old, he followed his dreams,
To play with the greatest of the NHL Teams.
Inspired to be, the best he could be.
No one would ever be, as great as he.

At 5:30 AM, half asleep, he was up to skate.
He was on the ice, until it was late.
Finally when he did go home,
He watched the only game he's ever known.

9 years later, he's out the door.
But this time, headed for more,
As he pulls over his Jersey and grabs his skates,
He goes on the ice, wide awake.

He loved the game, he loved to play.
He followed his dreams and made his way.
Out of the cold northern town,
To where the hockey teams are found.

At 10 years old he followed his dreams,
To play with the greatest of the NHL teams.
With a love and a burning desire,
He finally set the ice on fire.
